When your father is the youngest of 14 children, one can expect to have a large extended family. So it is with my family...I was fortunate to spend an extended weekend with 100 of my cousins for the Blaylock Family Reunion in my dad's hometown of Albany, Georgia. We visited the family farm, cotton gin, general store, site of the construction business, the prior home houses and more. We also paid our respects to our ancestors at their final resting sites throughout the city. I was pleased to see so many of my family members highlighted in Albany Civil Rights Museum; including my cousin Gail “Tootie” Smith, who was arrested and expelled from college for exercising her right to protest in the early 1960's (activism seems to run in my family)! The Reunion was an opportunity to reconnect with my family, recognize their accomplishments and acknowledge our love for one another. With 500 members and growing, the Blaylock bloodline is strong. I'm fortunate to have an incredible family; we hug, laugh, support each other and have big hearts! Love, Cousin Wendell Blaylock
